GOOD thirty day challenge- day two & three.

day two :: have a conversation with a service worker.

so you, the reader, might be thinking, “wow! she couldn’t even do the second challenge! how pathetic.” and maybe you’re right… i simply became absent minded of the challenge yesterday. the closest thing i came to speaking with a service worker was the man that took care of me at the post office. i failed. oh well. time to move on.

day three :: share an old photo with a friend.

today, the friend i shared a photo with was ms. Emily Waybright. shortly after i (or should i say my mom?) purchased my iPhone, i went to RCCC, and Emily decided to take a silly photo + put it as my background. that was months ago; however, it is still my background.

i am really glad i connected with her today because it was a reminder of the sleepover kati & i are supposed to be planning for the d-team girls. i finally made the first step by making the event on facebook. isn’t that kinda sad? anyways, i truly do love those girls with my whole heart, and i am embarrassed that i have not made as much of an effort to keep in touch.

here’s to… keeping in touch with our friends. no matter how young or old.

update :: i’m doing okay with staying connected with my family! …except i really need to talk to my dad. i was actually reminded that i need to get big and lil rob a card through facebook. oh, thank you God for the internet!

GOOD thirty day challenge- day one.

GOOD is a kick-ass magazine that has a kick-ass website to accompany it. you can find informative articles, neat info graphics, and challenges to live a “GOOD” life. ;)

for the month of September, GOOD is doing a thirty day challenge called connect with people. i will be the first to admit that i often take the easy way out when it comes to connecting with my loved ones. i would rather send a text or write a Facebook message before calling any day… i am hoping to not only complete this challenge, but more than that, moving out of my comfort zone in the process.

today’s challenge is: send a postcard. so i did. i sent a cute polka dotted card (that i got from kati) to my cousin erin. she is currently going to school at LSU, and we sadly do not get to see each other or talk as much as we used too. and as i was writing her postcard, it made me sad because we have all of these ways to connect, but i still fail to do so, and i mean, she is my family.

here’s to becoming more connected… starting with my family.

amen.

amen.

movieoftheday:

Unable to go anywhere, the girls travelled in their imaginations to Siamese temples or passed an old man with a leafbroom tidying a moss-carpeted speck of Japan. We ordered the same catalogues and, flipping through the pages, we hiked through passes with the girls, stopping every now and then to help them with their backpacks, placing our hands on their warm, moist shoulders and gazing offat papaya sunsets. We drank tea with them in a water pavilion. We did whatever we wanted. Cecilia hadn’t died. She was a bride in Calcutta. The only way we could feel close to the girls was through these impossible trips which have scarred us forever, making us happier with dreams than wives.  Collecting everything we could of theirs, the Lisbon girls wouldn’t leave our minds. But they were slipping away.
